After running 20 marathon races, NKSFB’s Senior IT Project Manager Dennis Lebman retired from distance running in 2018. Now 61, he has resumed his early morning runs in preparation for participating in the NY Marathon to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Strong support from family, friends, and colleagues at NKSFB allowed Dennis to surpass several fundraising goals. With more than $10,000 already committed, Dennis will “run for life,” hoping to raise $18,000 to help save lives at St. Jude.
Dennis went with a group of NKSFB employees last year to visit St. Jude’s Headquarters in Memphis. He was moved when he saw first-hand how all his fundraising dollars were put to work. This visit inspired Dennis to undergo rigorous training to prepare for a marathon run.
Dennis begins his workday with 5-mile runs; the weekends are 15 miles. The longer training runs will come in September and October. He aims to finish in Central Park before it gets dark that day.
